Softcover. The life of W.S. Goss was insured for $25,000. In 1872 he was killed in a fire, supposedly caused by an explosion whilst he was carrying out chemical experiments. William Udderzook said he found the house in flames and a badly burned body was identified by Mrs Goss as being that of her husband. However, it had in fact been a plot to defraud the insurance company and Udderzook was hiding Mr Goss. As investigators closed in, Udderzook found it necessary to murder his partner in crime. With Frontis. portrait. 59pp. double-column, trade size softcover. Printed paper wraps a little chipped round edges, but a clean copy internally. Vg.
